Causes and Symptoms of Stress and Anxiety

Some of the common causes of anxiety and stress are ongoing stress are family or home pressures, stress from particular situations such as losing your job or home, experiencing childhood abuse which could be physical, psychological or sexual, witnessing or being involved in a traumatic event, drug use alcoholism and self-harm.

Anxiety can manifest as physical symptoms- a racing heart, sweating, fast, shallow breathing, chest pains, dizziness, headaches, upset stomach, shaking, dry mouth and sleep problems. Psychological symptoms include: feeling tense, becoming irritated/angry quickly, feeling out of control and detached from your surroundings, worrying constantly and difficulty concentrating.
